Our Team
Most Team members have been with us for at least 10 years, with some celebrating 20, 30 and even 40+ years of service. Former President and Owner, Tom Jolie (center), was happy to attend the 100th Birthday Celebration in June 2021. To the left of Tom is Raquel (1980) and to his right, Mario (1974). Sarah Jolie (in green pants) just celebrated 10 years as the Owner and President.
Our History - 1921-Present
We are proud to be a multi-generational family business that has been involved with all the various evolutions of the business of mailing and fulfillment. Founded originally by Ed Hensley and Angelus “Ange” Jolie, the company oversaw the early direct mail business for Household Finance, Zenith and Encyclopedia Britannica. Ange took over as sole owner in 1921. He hired an artist whose only job was to “forge signatures” on direct mail letters and hired a room full of typists to generate envelopes and letters in the days before computers. Known then as Hensley Printing and Mailing Company, the name was legally changed to Hensley Company in 2015.
In the 1950s, Chuck Jolie returned home from his service in the Army during the Korean War to help his father operate the company. He had worked summers at Hensley Company when attending Fenwick High School and also when he was a student at University of Notre Dame. After Ange died in 1964, Chuck took until he retired in the late 1990s. Sue Jolie, Chuck’s wife, was a key member of the leadership team at Hensley Company. Their combined leadership and dedication to the company after the death of Ange can not be overstated.
In the mid-1970s, Chuck was joined by his ‘baby’ brother Tom, who had been overseas running the food programs for Catholic Relief Service. Tom had returned to the U.S. in the early 70s to take on a national sales position with Beatrice Foods. When Tom joined Hensley Company he brought both his social service background and national sales team experience.
Tom’s experience also helped expand the types of clients Hensley Company would serve, most specifically the non-profit sector. Chuck and Tom built a company that serviced mailing and assembly needs for both small and large non-profit organizations.
In 1998, Sarah Jolie, then an executive with a national professional association of attorneys, joined her father, Tom to oversee the computerization of mailing services. During her time as an association executive, Sarah was an event planner. She also managed their non-profit educational branch. Sarah was, and remains, a project manager. Her experience planning and implementing complex association events and projects transferred easily to enhance the success for Hensley Company. She also became known in the mailing industry as the PostalNerd. She took on the role sole owner of the company on October 1, 2011. In the past 10 years, Hensley Company has become certified as a woman owned business and was named to the INC. 5000.
Hensley Company staff demonstrates the best aspects of family in the values they share when working with our clients. We have your back.
3xData Acquisition
In 2019, 3xData became a Hensley Company. Like Hensley, 3xData specialized in mailings and fulfillment projects. Roselynn Wicklander, who founded 3xData, had been a mailing project partner with Sarah Jolie for more than 14 years. Located in the same building, it is not an exaggeration to say that 3xData and Hensley Company worked on projects almost weekly. Roselynn and Sarah served as sounding boards, staffing partners and effective planning and implementation strategists. They shared the same customer-focused philosophy. Prior to her illness, Roselynn and Sarah had begun discussing a merger to allow Roselynn to spend more time playing golf and being a grandma. Roselynn passed away in 2019.

Sarah Jolie, Owner and President
Sarah is the granddaughter of Ange Jolie, who founded The Hensley Company with Ed Hensley in 1921. She has come a long way since being recruited at age 12 by her dad, Tom Jolie, and his brother, Chuck, who were running the company in the 70s. An “All Hands on Deck” project taught her early on that it takes a team! Fast forward 21 years to 1998 when Sarah became a fulltime member of the team. In 2011, she officially became the Owner and President. Her 14 years as an association executive at Commercial Law League of America gave her the experience of managing complex events and projects. A 1987 graduate of Grinnell College, Sarah received the distinguished Alumni Award in 2017. Sarah is an active member of the Chicago Postal Customer Council and serves on their Board of Directors. She is known in the industry as PostalNerd, the one who knows all things postal … the postal whisperer. She enjoys holding @PostalNerd bootcamps. An avid cyclist, Sarah has ridden the width of Iowa twice during RAGBRAI.
